![]() ![]() I call it the “viewer’s challenge,” and it’s seen in many action trailers. My second favorite segment bleeds into the third, though the third is inseparable with its lead-in segment. This is not your grandfather’s Jet-Pack Bond, ladies and gentlemen. “Yes…considerably,” replies Bond, now officially certified as a cold-blooded bad ass. The man tells Bond that he “needn’t worry, because the second is–” and Bond doesn’t let him finish the sentence. Then, there’s that blink-and-you-miss it kill: Bond’s man is reassuring him about earning enough kills to claim is 00 status. We witness Bond’s first kill, shot in eerie black-and-white. Here, the trailer is tasked with reintroducing the timeless Bond character as a ruthless, take-no-prisoners hit man. The “hook” is always essential in every trailer after all, you need to capture your viewer’s attention immediately if you’re going to properly sell a movie. First is the opening sequence, which is lifted beat-by-beat from the movie’s introduction. There are three segments in this trailer which I adore. A blonde Bond? With blue eyes? Why is is head so tiny? Skeptical critics were shut up once they saw the new Bond, Daniel Craig, in action in this perfect Bond tailer. ![]()
